You have accessed this page through a QR code displayed on a Bitron Group packaging label.

The purpose of this page is to provide packaging traceability information and help recipients understand the identification codes associated with the packaging and Bitron's role within the packaging supply chain, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR)

How to Read the Packaging Fiche

The packaging fiche contains the key information needed to identify the packaging and its traceability records.

Typical information includes:

  • Bitron Part Number: Unique identifier of the packaged product
  • Date: Date associated with packaging preparation or shipment
  • Manufacturer Information: name and address of the packaging manufacturer legal entity (when applicable)
  • QR Code: link to this webpage containing additional packaging information.

The combination of these elements allows identification of the related packaging specifications and supporting documentation maintained by Bitron.

In some specific cases (upon customer request) the required information may be available in other fields and final product batch number/serial number may be used for traceability.

Packaging Traceability

Bitron maintains packaging traceability through internal technical documentation, packaging specifications and ERP records.

For packaging manufactured under Bitron responsibility, the packaging can be traced through the Bitron Product Part Number and Date (or final product batch number/serial number), shown on the fiche.

Understanding specific Bitron's Role

Depending on the packaging type and business scenario, Bitron may act as:

  • Manufacturer
  • Importer
  • Distributor
  • Supplier

The applicable role is determined according to Regulation (EU) 2025/40 and may vary depending on the specific packaging component.

In some packaging units, different packaging components may have different manufacturers. For example, a pallet may be manufactured by the pallet supplier, while additional packaging components such as stretch film, carton lids or corner protections may be supplied under Bitron responsibility.

As a general rule, for packaging items placed into the market after 12 August 2026:

  • when a unique company brand is present, it can be assumed that the company is the manufacturer
  • In case of “rigid” packaging items (eg: pallet, rigid plastic box, rigid plastic tray…), the manufacturer is marked on the packaging itself. This is usually the case of reusable packaging
  • In case of “not rigid” packaging items (eg: Carton box, adhesive tape, plastic wraps, not rigid plastic bags, …), Bitron is the manufacturer and information are reported on the Fiche

For all cases were Bitron is not the manufacturer, traceability, manufacturer information and labelling are assured by the manufacturer itself, with different methodologies.

Packaging items placed into the market before 12 August 2026 do not have to comply to PPWR requirements.
