Bitron Sustainable Report
The Bitron sustainability report 2020 has been published
In the past year, during a difficult health, economic and social emergency, the Bitron Group carried on with a commitment to sustainability.
Our Group continued to pursue the objectives of consolidating leadership in Italy and growing at European and international level.
This all makes us feel even more responsible towards our people, our shareholders, our customers, vendors and the communities in which we operate.
Our results make us increasingly aware that the Group's growth must also be sustainable.
Our challenge is to grow and commit ourselves to generating positive change in our daily actions from which everyone can benefit, promoting initiatives and solutions that are able to improve the well-being of the society in which we live. That is why we consider sustainability a strong guide for our daily choices.
Our organisation and the actions we have taken have led our Group, despite the uncertain and volatile international economic circumstances, to maintain our commitments and set new environmental and social goals for the future. In 2020, the Group updated its sustainability policies and supplier code of conduct, which sets out the principles for responsible supplying which is to be followed by all suppliers.
Sustainability for the Group starts first and foremost with the quality and excellence that characterise our products and which go hand in hand with continuous innovation and the development of new processes.
In recent years, pure technological innovation has given way to a broader concept, that includes the need to consider the environmental and social impacts on both our products and our production processes.
With this vision, we have sustained, albeit with difficulty, investments in infrastructure by modernising and making it more comfortable and efficient.
We have also invested in research and development, promoted transparent communication and strengthened the relationship of trust with our customers.
In addition, we have invested in renewable energies both from our own photovoltaic plants, with which we have avoided a CO2eq emission of about 337 tons, and through the purchase of Guarantee of Origin certificates.
In order to live up to our responsibilities in the years to come, we will continue to improve the impact of our products and, for some of them, we will support
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certifications as a confirmation of our commitment to sustainability.
- 92% of waste recycled
- 7.792 employees, of which 420 newly recruited under 30
- € 987mln in revenues and € 49mln in investments
- Energy consumed from renewable sources: 76.406 GJ (20% tot. energy), of which 3.837 GJ self-produced
Finally, with regards to what has happened over the past few months, with the difficulties linked to the spread of the COVID-19 virus and the consequent global health and economic crisis, the Group has always been at the forefront in ensuring that its workers are safe and have the best possible health conditions in the workplace.
During this emergency, and in order to support our workers with a continuous health check in relation to the epidemic, actions were taken to mitigate the risks of contagion and the spread of the virus within the company.
